My baby turns 3!

It's not like I really have a 39 pound baby who is already in size 5T or 4 shirts, 4T pants, size 10 kids shoes, and 39 inches tall. He is on a growth spurt and talks all the time. It is amazing how they feel like your baby until you bring home a 7 pound baby into the house. Then immediately they turn into a big boy. We love him, and all his determination, smartness, and very very strong will.

All he wanted for his birthday was green; green balloons, cake, plates, everything. It is his favorite color. I though he would want maybe a Thomas the train or Lighting McQueen birthday, no green. So here was my attempt at the cake. If I were to do it again tomorrow I would have done a few things differently, but he loved it - that is what matters.

We had a wonderful small birthday with his buddy from play group. They played so well together it made not only his birthday, but a nice visit with parents too. Thank you so much for coming over!

The slip in slide. It was great to finally see a kid use it like it was meant for. Isaac just plays with the shooting water and runs down it.

I can see it now - 13 years later the two of them driving to school. Man that seems scary and not that far away :(

I think this is the smile of a kid that is being sung too. He loves the birthday song and has been wrapping presents to himself for the last month with his blanket and toys around the house. He would sing the birthday song, blow out 3 candles and then slowly open the gift while asking me "what do you think it is mom". We love him!

So my final 3 year old story. We have been potty training this little guy for 3 months on and off. No success, so finally he kept telling us "I'll go potty when I'm 3". Well we held him to it. Saturday morning we sang happy birthday, decorated the bathroom all up, and gave him a present of underwear. What a fun birthday this was going to be. 1 accident and finally many successes he is potty trained.

So we went to school today "daycare" and was so excited for him to start going there. Nope - He kept telling the teachers that he only goes in his potty at home, man another hurdle. And I picked him up in my workout clothes and he asked "why are you still in your pjs". Lovely!

We love you and wish you the best 3rd year! Can't wait to see what hurdles we will be crossing this year.

Heather, how adorable! I just love the potty-training story as well as the pj's comment. He is SUCH a cute boy, inside and out! It was a fun party! Thank you!

Your story cracked me up. That cake turned out so cute! All he wanted was green huh, I think it's cool he doesn't get sucked into mainstream consumerism. :) Or at least he'll wait until he's 4. Love ya.
